W.R. Cedar Doubletop & Indian Rosewood
SoldConcert Double-Top Classical Guitar — Western Red Cedar / Indian Rosewood
This concert classical guitar combines a double-top Western red cedar soundboard with Indian rosewood back and sides, finished entirely by hand in French polish.
The double-top construction uses a grooved cedar core laminated with an ultra-thin cedar skin. This architecture substantially increases the stiffness-to-weight ratio of the soundboard, enabling it to move with exceptional freedom while remaining structurally stable over time. The result is an instrument of immediate response, low playing resistance, and wide dynamic range.
Western red cedar brings its characteristic warmth and directness to this construction. The instrument speaks at the lightest touch, with a full, round fundamental and a tonal palette that rewards nuance and phrasing. The raised ebony fingerboard improves string break angle and playability, contributing to the guitar's overall responsiveness.
Indian rosewood back and sides offer strong projection with clarity and depth — a well-defined bass register, focused midrange, and transparent trebles that carry across a concert hall. The body resonance is tuned to F, supporting a natural air resonance in the bass that underpins the instrument without obscuring the upper voices.
Fitted with Alessi tuning machines for precise, stable tuning. The multicoloured rosette is handmade in the workshop.
